			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Many industries including food and beverage, janitorial and cleaning, industrial and agriculture, cosmetic and beauty, pharmaceutical, sealant and candle affiliates often rely on liquid packaging machines during the production process for greater efficiency. With so many packaging machines available on the market, there are often common questions and concerns that are top of mind. Below is an overview of liquid packaging, from the machine itself to design and types of fillers to use per liquid.</p>
<h2>Packaging Machines</h2>
<p>When selecting a packaging machine, several key features include technical capabilities, labor requirements, worker safety cautions, maintainability of the machine, serviceability provided by the company, reliability, ability to integrate into the packaging line, capital cost, floor space required, flexibility (change-over, materials, etc.), energy usage, quality of outgoing packages, qualifications (for food, pharmaceuticals, etc.), throughput, efficiency, productivity, ergonomics and the list goes on.</p>
<p>It’s important to understand what types of packaging machines are available. General types of machines include liquid filling systems that may rely on certain gravity, pressure, overflow, pump or molten specifications. There are also <a href="#." target="_blank">capping machines</a> that can vary, such as over-capping, lidding, spindle, snap, chuck and plugging. Conveying machines are another packaging machine that accumulates, merges and/or diverges related machines. Feeding machines include orienting and placing, while inspecting machines detect and check weighing machines. Machines devoted to labeling and marketing are part of product identification packing. Lastly, there is induction sealing as well as accumulation machines that are in-line, rotary, front of line or end of line.</p>
<h2>Liquid Filling</h2>
<p>Liquid<a href="#." target="_blank"> filling machines</a> are used for a wide variety of products including candles, air fresheners, glue, fuel additives, and a variety of acids. Given a range in industries that require liquid filling systems, a product’s consistency can range from water-like, semi-viscous, to viscous fluid, and can be non-corrosive or corrosive, foamy or non-foamy, hazardous or non-hazardous. Packaging methods are chosen for chemical compatibility along with additional materials that are present.</p>
<h2>Design Considerations</h2>
<p>All engineers and designers have to balance machines objectives with practical considerations in determining packaging methods. One of the most critical design considerations to keep in mind is hazardous materials.  The machines often have to be protected against mechanical damage, exposure to weather and dirt and electromagnetic interference.</p>
<p>There are tradeoffs between tooling capital cost and per-unit cost for the change parts that are present when creating the machines. Additional tradeoffs consist between the time of first delivery and production rate of in-line to rotary machines. <br />The availability and capability of suppliers is a must. The design must be convenient and offer ease of access to internal parts when required for maintenance. Engineers always have to maintain product safety while complying with regulatory standards, service, life and reliability.</p>
<h2>Liquid Packaging Types</h2>
<p>Along with a variety of packaging machines, there are several types of liquids placed into containers via unique filling machines and applications. The liquid type depends on the type of container used as well as type of filler used for filling. For example, a hot scented candle wax is considered the type of liquid. Given the liquid, the wax would be placed in a round glass container. The type of filler used for filling would require a molten gravity filler. Additional examples include foamy laundry detergent in an industrial gallon for use of a gravity and pressure overflow filler, drinking water would be in an 8 ounce PET plastic bottle container for use of a gravity filler and Vodka would be contained in a round glass bottle container for use in a hazardous rated overflow filler.</p>
