Can You Use Liquid Filling Machines for Corrosive Products?

Gravity Fillers from E-PAK

If you’re in a business or industry that deals with products that are acidic or corrosive, and you deal with liquid filling machinery, if you’re not using specialized equipment, you could be causing serious damage to your machines. Machinery used with acids or corrosive products is generally made from a different material—HDPE, or high-density polyethylene. That way, the machinery can handle the punishment that comes from constant exposure to acids or corrosives. These filling machines use volumetric filling methods which product extremely accurate results, and are designed to fill from a fraction of an ounce up to five gallons in a range of different viscosities, so even if your product is a corrosive, chances are there is a filling machine solution that’s suitable and available. If you’re ready to make the switch, or if you’re setting up a brand new packaging line, be sure to research what’s available for your products.

What Are Specifications of Corrosive Friendly Machines?

At E-PAK Machinery, we’re proud to offer a full line of liquid filling machines that can be used with a number of different products. Our fillers are made with HDPE frame construction as well as HDPE reservoirs. The fill valves are made from Kynar or Teflon, the polypropylene fittings, and the tubing is braided PVC. We offer tabletop, semiautomatic and fully automatic machines, and there are optional enclosures for ventilation and safety that you can add to your packaging line for additional safety. Conveyers are constructed with HDPE and PVC, and have corrosive-resistant belting with a variable speed motor. Turntables are also made from HDPE. The machinery used for these types of products must be specialized to be able to withstand the wear and tear that acids and corrosives can bring upon them; if you’re using standard equipment, you may run into serious problems regarding maintenance and damage.

Types of Products Used with These Machines

Applications where these machines are generally recommended can include with things like cleaning products and pool chemicals, as well as bases such as sodium hypochlorite, acids including hydrochloric acid, and any corrosive liquids, ranging from water-thin to foaming to medium viscosity thickness.

The automotive and cleaning industries often use corrosive friendly machinery, as many products within those industries can cause a significant amount of wear on equipment that isn’t built to stand up to acidic or corrosive liquids.

From entry-level/small table-top systems to fully automated corrosive filling systems, these lines can be designed to work specifically for the products you create and sell. Things like the tank capacity, number of fill heads, contact parts and frame dimensions are all customizable. For more information about these machines, contact E-PAK Machinery today.
